Dotonbori Pool / 道頓堀プール

In commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Dotonbori River excavation,Taichi Sakaiya planned a project to create a resort in the city of Minami, re-envisioning Dotonbori as an 800m log swimming pool. Screens are provided along the 8m wide Tonbori River Walk to block sidelines from the surroundings, also allowing to project movies. With palm tree-like lighting and sound facilities on the poolside, various spatial effects can be produced. The palm leaves are made from solar panels as a source of renewable energy.

道頓堀川開削400周年記念事業として、堺屋太一氏が道頓堀を800ｍ のプールとし、リゾートをミナミの街に創り出すプロジェクトを企画され た。幅8ｍのとんぼりリバーウォークに目隠しの帆幕を設け、周囲の視線 を遮断しつつ、映像投影が可能、そしてプールサイドにはヤシの木状の 照明と音響施設を配置し、様々な空間演出できる。ヤシの葉はソーラー パネルで作り、省エネを図っている。
