NPO Voluntary Architects Network (VAN) + Shigeru Ban Architects have started to set up Paper Partition System (PPS) and cardboard beds to ensure privacy at evacuation centers for disaster victims from the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on January 1st.
NPO法人ボランタリー・アーキテクツ・ネットワーク（VAN）＋ 坂茂建築設計では、2024年1月1日に発生した能登半島地震の被災者用避難所にて、避難所用・紙の間仕切りシステムの設置を開始しました。

Noto-gawara and Old Timber Restoration Project / 能登瓦・古材の再生プロジェクト
Noto-gawara (Noto roof tiles) and old materials such as pillars and beams will be recovered from collapsed houses and put to good use. Noto-gawara is a little larger than the typical tile and are glazed on both sides. The company that manufactured these Noto-gawara closed its business several years ago. In order to preserve the townscape of Noto-gawara, which symbolize Oku-Noto, we will collect tiles and old materials from collapsed houses before they are crushed and disposed of through publicly funded demolition, and will pass them on to the next generation for the future.

倒壊した家屋から能登瓦や、柱や梁といった古材を回収して利活用を行います。能登瓦は、一般的に普及している瓦よりも少し大きく、両面を釉薬で仕上げています。この能登瓦を製造する会社が数年前に閉業しています。奥能登を象徴する能登瓦の町並みを将来へとつなげるために、公費解体で粉砕されて処分される前に倒壊家屋から瓦や古材を回収し、次の人への橋渡しを行います。

Construction of DLT permanent temporary housing in Wajima / 輪島市ゾウさん公園におけるDLT恒久仮設住宅の建設
In Minami-cho, Wajima, the construction of 3 DLT permanent temporary housings whinch have units for 31 families has started.輪島市の南町子供の広場（ゾウさん公園）でDLT恒久仮設住宅（3棟 31世帯）の建設が始まりました。

8月より、7、8、0号棟の建設を進めています。

On June 20, 30 households were completed and handed over as part of the nine planned buildings (135 households). The rooms are furnished with furniture and tables.In the room, curtains by artist Tomoko Konoike have also been installed. We asked people who do handicrafts to help us by sewing curtains out of fabrics they had at home and embroidering motifs inspired by Ukrainian poetry.
6月20日、建設予定の９棟（135世帯）のうちの30世帯分が完成し、引き渡しが行われました。室内には備え付けの家具やテーブルを設置しています。室内にはアーティストの鴻池朋子さんによるカーテンも設置されています。手芸をする方々に協力を呼びかけ、それぞれ自宅にある布でカーテンを縫ってもらい、そこにウクライナの詩からイメージした作品のモチーフを刺繍しました。

Features of DLT Temporary Housing / DLT仮設住宅の特徴
– DLT is made by lining up a row of lumber, drilling holes, and inserting wooden dowels. No glue or nails are used during this process.
– DLT is a material that is easy for local lumber companies to work with because of its simple processing process, with no gluing process and no need for large-scale manufacturing facilities.
– Staggered stacking of box-shaped units of DLT lumber enables construction in a short period of time.
– The interior will be kept as DLT without additional finishes, allowing the interior space to take full advantange of the texture and materiality of wood.
・DLTとは、製材を並べて穴をあけ、木ダボを差し込んで製造された積層材のこと。製造時に接着剤や釘を使用しない
・DLTは接着工程が無く、大規模な製造設備が不要であるなど加工工程が単純であるため、地元の中小規模の木材事業者が取り組みやすい材料である
・箱型ユニットとしたDLT材を千鳥状に積層させることで、短期間での建設が可能
・内装をDLTのままとすることで、木の素材感を活かした室内空間を実現

Construction of Temporary Atelier of Suzu Pottery / 珠洲焼作家のための仮設工房の建設
From May 31 to June 1, the temporary atelier for an artist of Suzu Pottery was constructed in Suzu City.

5/31-6/1に珠洲市内にある珠洲焼作家のための仮設工房の建設を行いました。

Construction of Temporary Atelier 2 in Wajima / 輪島市で2棟目の仮設工房建設
From May 1 to 2, construction workshop of 2nd temporary atelier was held on the premise of Kirimoto, a studio of Wajima lacquer in Wajima City. As Wajima lacquer involves many process before completion, more temporary studios for Wajima lacquer craftsmen will be built in the coming months.
5/1-2にかけて輪島市にある輪島塗のスタジオであるキリモトの敷地内に仮設工房の２棟目を建設しました。輪島塗は完成までに多くの工程があり、今後も輪島塗の職人の方々が利用できる仮設の工房の建設を計画しています。

Construction of the temporary housing in Suzu / 珠洲市での仮設住宅の建設
From March 8 to 11, construction workshop of Paper Log House was held at Yokoyama, Suzu.
This Paper Log Houses was built for a habitant, whose home was completely destroyed by the earthquake and had to live in a green house.

3/8-3/11にかけて珠洲市横山地区に紙の住宅の建設ワークショップを行いました。珠洲市狼煙町で地震によって自宅が全壊し、ビニルハウスで一人で生活する方に紙のログハウスを建設しました。

2023年の能登地震の際に珠洲市に建設した仮設住宅は、令和6年能登半島地震の後も、損傷なく使われています。
